Heating and Cooling Solutions are primarily a renewable energy installation company. We design and supply a system that work for your property, wheather it be Solar, Wind or Bio Energy.

Renewable Energy

Heating and Cooling Solutions Limited are primarily a renewable energy installation company, but in some cases where you live far away from our south coast base, or you decide you want to use your own plumber, we can design and supply a system that is going to work for your property, getting them to install the standard plumbing and heating and we will come and install the renewable element.

Heat Recovery Ventilation System

Your home will be well insulated and draught sealed to comply with the new Building Regulations, but unless you have effective ventilation, the air you breathe inside your home may be up to ten times more polluted than the air by a busy road.

New homes are extremely air tight, and require correct ventilation in order to protect them from problems in the future. A Heat Recovery System will take care of all the extract and ventilation requirements, but also reduce energy consumption in the home by recovering otherwise wasted heat.

heat recovery

A heat recovery system will keep your house fully ventilated throughout the year, whilst recovering the heat already inside your home. It brings fresh air from the outside and recycles the otherwise wasted heat from bathroom and kitchen areas. Anywhere where there is a high heat or moisture content will be used to power the heat recovery unit and keep efficiencies high.

Very old properties, although sometimes quite difficult to install, will benefit greatly from a mechanical heat recovery ventilation system. Moisture and stale air can cause lasting damage to Grade 2 listed and older homes. This is where a heat recovery system can count towards protecting the actual fabric structure of the building, along with the comfort of the inhabitants occupying it.

Heat Recovery Ventilation System Cost

The supply, installation and commissioning cost for a Nu-Aire heat recovery system in a new property, normally costs between £5,500 to £6,500. This would include all the electrical components for the system.

Step 1 - Heat Recovery System

Dirty, stale air is continually extracted from all the wet areas of the home, through Heating and Cooling Solutions are primarily a renewable energy installation company. We design and supply a system that work for your property, wheather it be Solar, Wind or Bio Energy.unobtrusive white ceiling or wall mounted grilles.

Step 2 - Heat Recovery System

This air then makes its way through the ducting and the long rigid silencer, back to the heat recovery unit. Before being discharged outside, it passes through the plate or rotary wheel heat exchanger giving up its heat to the cold fresh air coming into the house.

Step 3 - Heat Recovery System

The highly filtered supply air is heated up to the required temperature by the water heater coil (linked to your wet heating system) or an electric heater coil ensuring no cold draughts, which must be avoided. The heat recovery unit controls the extra heat requirements automatically.

Step 4 - Heat Recovery System
The supply air is now delivered through a long rigid silencer into the supply ducting, through ceiling or wall mounted supply registers, to all the habitable rooms resulting in whole house heat recovery ventilation.
It is common practice to have two or more heat recovery units working in one large home; and they can be positioned to serve zones or floors of their own. Ductwork can be installed within Ecoweb or I joist floors so that no boxing-in is required.

The Facts Regarding MVHR Heat Recovery Systems

The XBOX 90 Litre heat recovery unit

A mechanical heat recovery ventilation system will fully circulate and recycle the air in your home, and reduce your fuel bills at the same time.

Our systems come with automatic summer bypass valves. These systems allow a level of free cooling in the summer during the night. Instead of the heat being exchanged to the fresh incoming air, it is bypassed so that the air coming in isn't pre heated. This can reduce the temperature in a room by a few degrees, whilst still ventilating that room effectively.

The full level of energy savings depends on a number of highly variable factors. These include the level of air tightness in the home, the way the home is heated, the heat energy saved by the system, the energy used by the system and the type and cost of fuel used to heat the home.

Heating and Cooling Solutions will work with the manufacturers technical staff to advise you on all of the aforementioned factors, and help you make an informed judgment on whether or not you should install a Mechanical Heat Recovery System.

The importance of low noise levels.

MVHR Heat Recovery systems are designed to run 24 hours a day, seven days a week, 365 days a year. Quite simply they have to be quiet in operation and acceptable to the occupants. We are renowned for supplying home ventilation systems with very low noise levels. The XBOX 90Litre heat recovery unit (pictured above) is fully SAP Appendix Q compliant, and so is extremely efficient and quiet during use.
